      #weekendbabystyle

I’m keeping it simple this weekend..mainly because I’ve not done the washing so ‘nice’ (aka clean) clothes are hard to come by.

Say hello πŸ‘‹ to the newest addition to the wardrobe…

      IMG_1512

Found on the Joules OUTLET online store reduced from Β£24.95 to Β£16.95…I love a bargain!

“Yes husband dear, I saved Β£8 buying it.”

      FACT.

      IMG_1622
With gorgeous soft fleece fabric, nice pink chunky buttons and cute wee ears on the hood it’s a winner!

      IMG_1616

      I know what you’re thinking…

“I love it but does it come in ‘boy colours’?”
      * I don’t like referring to anything as boy/girl but that’s a whole different blog…and I know you’ll know what I mean!

      Good news..it does πŸ‘

      IMG_1617

      Now for my favourite part…

      IMG_1611-0

    • Butterfly World, Dalkeith

Posted at 12:33 pm by corrinacampbell
      Feb 16th

Kid you not, I visited Butterfly World when I was ten! Not that I remember much, but I do remember there being A LOT of butterflies (no kidding right!?)

The good news is that there still are a lot of butterflies… But unfortunately not as many as normal as most are wrapped up cosy in their crystallises or cocoons at the moment!

      IMG_1442

      IMG_1439

We saw butterflies of course but there were also reptiles..

      IMG_1437

      IMG_1457

There were also super cute hedgehogs! Amazing…

      IMG_1464

      IMG_1461

So, what’s the low down on Butterfly World?

      IMG_1606

What actually made it for me was the staff. One member of staff in particular actually, who spent time telling us all about the reptiles and who clearly had a genuine love and passion for these animals. It was the end of the day and we were wondering about with a baby who, let’s be honest, would probably rather eat the animals than handle them. Nevertheless, this member of staff took time to explain everything to us, answer our questions and certainly didn’t rush us round.

I’m gutted I can’t remember her name but she was a young girl with red hair who loves looking after the reptiles πŸ‘

      So, here my thoughts…

      Venue 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Things to see and cakes to eat next door at Dobbies..winner!

      Activities 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
There are scheduled events/activities..we saw ‘Mouse Dinner’.

      Value for money 🌟🌟🌟🌟
It is quite pricey but I think it is worth the money.

      Parking 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
      Nae probs!

      19/20 πŸ‘

What a brilliant idea!! Well done @crafty_mamacita

      FullSizeRender (16)FullSizeRender (4)

So this was my first project of the year and really my first sewing victory. Β I really wanted to make this for Jay. Β I love scrapbooking but I loved the idea of using fabric because he could throw it around, squish it, get his grubby paws on it and really enjoy it as a sensory object. Β Unfortunately, I didn’t take pictures as I went along, but it really wasn’t too difficult and will try and describe what I did step by step. Β I had never used a sewing machine before…and borrowed my sister’s to do this. Β I had a great sense of achievement when it was done and now I’m getting requests to make others!

      IMG_0142

So the first thing I think is important to do is plan your book on paper. Β It needs to be organised in double page spreads so it’s a good idea to jot down all that…

    • Peter Rabbit back in fashion

Posted at 7:29 pm by corrinacampbell
      Feb 15th

      I love #weekendbabystyle

However…I need to get better at snapping outfits pre-breakfast.

Yet today’s Mark’s and Spencer Peter Rabbit combo seems to have escaped the dollops of yoghurt and banana that we’re flying about!

This outfit was a gift from Great Grandma. With a gorgeous Peter Rabbit pattern (in coral pink) vest I can see why Great Grandma was drawn to this. For those of you with wee lads it also comes in original Peter Rabbit blue.

      IMG_1522

The vest is also accompanied by a cute coral pink cord dress. It also has a small embroidered rabbit on the dress, tying in the rabbit theme beautifully!

      IMG_1519

I particularly like this outfit as, unlike a lot of the dresses we have, it’s warm, strong (aka well-made) and isn’t overly girlie (I’m not a huge fan of the Princess Pink style..just not my thing!).

      IMG_1525

To finish Wee One wore her warm tights which completed the look…however, they unfortunately did not escape the yoghurt and banana and are in the wash!

      And the finished look?

      IMG_1524

      Just lovely.

Ok, so I said I’d do this over the weekend…but the weekend quickly became Monday!

I’ve actually been nominated twice (thanks to Tor and Janette) so thought I’d better get this done before I get a third nomination!

      So, HERE GOES…
      1. What was your first ever job?
My first ever EVER job was as a Highland Dancer..I’m serious!!

Genuinely not trying to take the Scottish theme too far! I would dance outside a Scottish castle (in my kilt obvs) and get money. Best job yet.

      2. When did you start blogging and what do you love about it?
I started blogging after a trip to Kenya to visit several schools that were located in slums. I used it to update friends and family back home. I loved putting my experience into words and sharing it with others as the trip was life changing.

      Beach beach beach..easy!

      IMG_5995

      5. If you were a character from Sex & The City, which one would you be?
Ooooo, tricky tricky! Every blogger wants to be Carrie right!? But unfortunately for me I think I’m more Charlotte..bit ditsy and a bit of a do-gooder!

      IMG_1535

      6. What do you do in β€˜real life’?
      I’m a primary school teacher. Ta-dah!

      7. What’s your favourite cake?
Chocolate with chocolate on the side and chocolate on the top!

Ok, confession time…I’m a Peter Pan drinker. I love Blue WKD.

      IMG_1543

      9. You have a day off from the kids, all to yourself…how would you spend it?

    • Beebies Brand Ambassador Application

Posted at 10:27 pm by corrinacampbell
      Feb 8th

I was really excited when I saw BeebiesΒ were looking for Brand Ambassadors. Β This is exactly why I joined the blogging world and I also love a lot of what they stock πŸ™‚

This has been a tough application to create.

I wanted to do something a bit different, I wanted to challenge myself in coming up with something creative and funny..because that sums me up best.

Having only been blogging for a month (ish) I knew this would be a long shot but I wanted to stand out as a blogger who is keen to try new things (yes, this is my first vlog). Β Let’s hope the risk pays off!

So here it is, my #welovebeebies Brand Ambassador application.

      Enjoy πŸ™‚

    • Bump-i-licious

Posted at 10:33 pm by corrinacampbell
      Feb 7th

Don’t get me wrong, I am no glamour-puss but there was the odd occasion when I ‘worked it’ pregnant! Β Yes, my skin wasn’t great, I was knackered and I usually looked pretty pastey (due to a fear of my old vice ‘fake tan’ causing damage to my unborn baby) but all in all, it is nice now looking back at old pictures, laughing at the awful ones and smiling at the not-so-awful ones! So what’s this blog about? Β It’s just my take on what I think worked, and what certainly did not work, with a baby in your tum!

      WHAT DID WORK?

STRIPES. Β For some reason (although I’m sure other fashion gurus would advice against this) horizontal stripes seemed to work for me…and also Katie Piper who was snapped wearing the same dress! Β Yes, I was delighted. Β Striped top from Warehouse (non-maternity but stretchy!), Stripy dress as seen on me (and Katie Piper) from New Look and stripy boob-tube (under pink cardigan) and stripy hoodie also from New Look – they are clearly also into horizontal stripes!

      IMG_6116 IMG_6246 IMG_6349 IMG_6377 IMG_6910 IMG_6913 IMG_6915

FLOATY YET FITTED. Β I had be be careful in the floaty clothes department as there was a danger of looking like a circus tent. Β My Mum would have loved this as she hated anything too fitted over the bump. Β However, this is the 21st century and I believe that being pregnant and having a bump isn’t something that needs to be hidden away. Β My floaty yet fitted tops came from Monsoon and Topshop, neither are maternity wear, they just seemed to fit.

      IMG_6780 IMG_6784Β Β IMG_5803

GLAM. Β I decided not to shy away from trying to be glam, even though I felt massive! Β I had a ball to attend and so I went on the hunt for a glamorous pregnant ball gown and I was delighted with what I found. Β Surprisingly enough this dress came from the Danielle Lloyd collection – which is not usually where I would shop, but this dress was amazing! Β Highly recommend. Β I also had a work night out 4 months pregnant and found an amazing gold lace dress from Apricot (again a horizontal stripe theme!).

      IMG_6537 IMG_6540

      IMG_5652 IMG_5669

…and a wee picture at the ball!

      IMG_6660

      TACKY TEEs

I think this is like a right of passage for pregnant ladies. Β Everyone needs to embrace the tacky ‘I’m pregnant’ t-shirt at some point right? (Or is it just me?!) Β Another classic, yet again from New Look who seem to have kitted me out during my whole pregnancy!

      IMG_6736 IMG_6200

      WHAT DIDN’T WORK??

This is tricky, as I have to remember that this is the internet and I don’t want to post a whole load of truly terrible photos. Β However, here are a few that made the cut…

      FLOATY AND NOT FITTED

I already touched on this..it just didn’t work for me, nuf said.

      IMG_6186 IMG_6862

      OVER FITTED

Not sure why I thought this was a good idea, it’s just all boobs and bump!

      IMG_5717 IMG_6542

      BUMP PAINTING

Fun but not a great look. Β I know some people who had gorgeous bump painting done and they looked incredible. Β I was clearly in a mischievous mood!

      IMG_6645

WORK CLOTHES THAT ARE NOT MADE FOR BUMP

I was definitely in denial at his point, squeezing into clothes that didn’t really fit anymore and certainly, in my opinion, didn’t fit my new shape! Β Note to self..embrace pregnancy and bump!

      IMG_5486

      FINALLY

In the end of the day it is all about how you feel in what you are wearing. Β Whether that be comfortable, glamorous or smart, or even just yourself in your new pregnancy body. Β Looking back at all these pictures makes me smile. Β I didn’t really appreciate what an amazing time it was (I felt rotten!) but remembering pregnancy and seeing myΒ bump makes me proud…and a little broodie again – eek!

    • Why is she crying??

Posted at 11:29 pm by corrinacampbell
      Feb 6th

      IMG_1283

      “Why is she crying??”

I get asked this A LOT and often these are the suggested reasons..

      1. “She needs fed.”
This is my husbands favourite. She’s crying so she MUST need fed – right? Let’s be honest, what he’s really saying is, “She’s crying and I don’t like it, take her back!”

      Crying baby

      2. “She’s teething.”
She appears to have been teething since birth…that’s all I have to say in this.

      IMG_1313

      3. “It’s a growth spurt.”
      * See point No 2. At least this is factually accurate as she has certainly been growing since birth!

      IMG_1314

      3. “It’s a developmental leap!”
Yes, I’ve read the Wonder Years. I actually like this one as it means that tears = learning. My conclusion..a lot of tears = genius!?

      IMG_1315

      5. “Something brewing!?”
Yes, this is an interesting one..she’s crying because she’s going to be unwell. If these are they ‘I’m going to be unwell tears’ then let’s brace ourselves for the ‘I’m actually unwell tears’….and yes, when they are genuinely unwell there will be A LOT of tears 😭

But here is what I believe, and this has got me through a many “why is she crying?” questions…

“She’s crying because she’s a baby, and that’s what babies do.”

      FACT.

They all cry. Sometimes for no reason at all, and we should be ok with that.

      IMG_5951

Yes, it’s tough/draining/soul destroying/traumatic etc etc but it should be expected.

What’s important to remember is that hidden behind all those tears and tantrums will be THE most beautiful smile..and that will make it all worthwhile.
