      #weekendbabystyle

I’m keeping it simple this weekend..mainly because I’ve not done the washing so ‘nice’ (aka clean) clothes are hard to come by.

Say hello 👋 to the newest addition to the wardrobe…

      IMG_1512

Found on the Joules OUTLET online store reduced from £24.95 to £16.95…I love a bargain!

“Yes husband dear, I saved £8 buying it.”

      FACT.

      IMG_1622
With gorgeous soft fleece fabric, nice pink chunky buttons and cute wee ears on the hood it’s a winner!

      IMG_1616

      I know what you’re thinking…

“I love it but does it come in ‘boy colours’?”
      * I don’t like referring to anything as boy/girl but that’s a whole different blog…and I know you’ll know what I mean!

      Good news..it does 👍

      Now for my favourite part…

      IMG_1611-0

      Have a great weekend folks!

    • Peter Rabbit back in fashion

      I love #weekendbabystyle

However…I need to get better at snapping outfits pre-breakfast.

Yet today’s Mark’s and Spencer Peter Rabbit combo seems to have escaped the dollops of yoghurt and banana that we’re flying about!

This outfit was a gift from Great Grandma. With a gorgeous Peter Rabbit pattern (in coral pink) vest I can see why Great Grandma was drawn to this. For those of you with wee lads it also comes in original Peter Rabbit blue.

      IMG_1522

The vest is also accompanied by a cute coral pink cord dress. It also has a small embroidered rabbit on the dress, tying in the rabbit theme beautifully!

      IMG_1519

I particularly like this outfit as, unlike a lot of the dresses we have, it’s warm, strong (aka well-made) and isn’t overly girlie (I’m not a huge fan of the Princess Pink style..just not my thing!).

      IMG_1525

To finish Wee One wore her warm tights which completed the look…however, they unfortunately did not escape the yoghurt and banana and are in the wash!

      And the finished look?

      IMG_1524

      Just lovely.

    • Why is she crying??

      “Why is she crying??”

I get asked this A LOT and often these are the suggested reasons..

      1. “She needs fed.”
This is my husbands favourite. She’s crying so she MUST need fed – right? Let’s be honest, what he’s really saying is, “She’s crying and I don’t like it, take her back!”

      Crying baby

      2. “She’s teething.”
She appears to have been teething since birth…that’s all I have to say in this.

      IMG_1313

      3. “It’s a growth spurt.”
      * See point No 2. At least this is factually accurate as she has certainly been growing since birth!

      IMG_1314

      3. “It’s a developmental leap!”
Yes, I’ve read the Wonder Years. I actually like this one as it means that tears = learning. My conclusion..a lot of tears = genius!?

      IMG_1315

      5. “Something brewing!?”
Yes, this is an interesting one..she’s crying because she’s going to be unwell. If these are they ‘I’m going to be unwell tears’ then let’s brace ourselves for the ‘I’m actually unwell tears’….and yes, when they are genuinely unwell there will be A LOT of tears 😭

But here is what I believe, and this has got me through a many “why is she crying?” questions…

“She’s crying because she’s a baby, and that’s what babies do.”

      FACT.

They all cry. Sometimes for no reason at all, and we should be ok with that.

      IMG_5951

Yes, it’s tough/draining/soul destroying/traumatic etc etc but it should be expected.

What’s important to remember is that hidden behind all those tears and tantrums will be THE most beautiful smile..and that will make it all worthwhile.

    • How’s the dog with the baby?

      2015/01/img_0292.jpg

How’s the dog with the baby?  I hear this question regularly as visitors arrive and the dog and baby battle for attention.

Maverick, my dog, joined our wee family 7 years ago. The deal was that I could pick the dog if my husband could pick the name. Yes, he’s a small chihuahua x bichon named after the one and only Top Gun Maverick.

My husband will tell you, for 7 years Maverick has been my ‘Fur-Baby’.  Yes yes, I may have ‘mothered’ him slightly (let him sleep in the bed, on my lap, come with me wherever I go etc etc) but he’s so cute and small it seemed only right.

Even pregnant Maverick was by my side.  I loved this dog more than anything in the world, by my side through everything and still there when I was tired, grumpy and very hormonal.

      IMG_6506

For me it was more a question of the baby fitting in around the dog and not the other way round.  I never imagined that this love for my dog would ever faultier, not even for one second.  But then I never appreciated that I would ever love something, or indeed someone more than my dog.

I had read a bit about how to introduce a baby to a dog, how to ensure that they would both be friends, how to make the transition a smooth and easy process for all.  No bother I thought.  How wrong I would be.

Arriving home with the Wee One I was greeted with a delighted Maverick, who was so pleased to see us return (with or without a baby, let’s be honest!).  However, something had changed.  I wasn’t the same anymore.  I had had a section so I did not want the dog anywhere near me, and certainly not perched on what was a very sore and tender tummy.  I then started to panic about dog germs and so poor Maverick was banished from the bedroom (into a lovely new dog bed for the record).

But that wasn’t all.  The tiredness and exhaustion kicked in.  I just didn’t have time to look after a new baby and a fur-baby.  It seemed an impossible task and my priorities had changed, literally over night.  Frustration then began to creep in.  Walking a dog and a buggy was quite a task and certainly stopping to sniff at every lamp post was just out of the question with a screaming baby who needed to be kept moving.

Yet, having now mastered a dog and a buggy, a routine which includes the dog
